Geoff Power Irish champion 420

It is not often that on the way out of the club house, you bump into a National Champion. Well I did.

As modest as Geoff can be, I had to ask him how he got on in the Dinghy Sailfest in Cork which incorporated the National 420’s Championship and after some gentle persuasion he admitted he had won with his partner James McCann.

After a 7th place in the huge fleet of 135 boats in Kiel Germany they are still working hard to improve their game. The win in Cork was hard fought and after nine races only a single point separated them from Kinsale Yacht Club’s Micheal O’Suilleabhain and Michael Carroll.

Great to see them holding it together under such pressure; Well done !

We are looking forward to seeing them in action in August in the 420 Munster Championships in Dunmore East.

Congratulations from all at WHSC
