As part of the Go Racing 2 course we will have Scott Flannigan the 2012 470 Olympian coaching for one week in Dunmore East.
The dates for this course have been changed and will now run over a three week period starting on the 22/7 ending on 9/8. (course will still be 10 days in total)
This will allow us to join with the Kites & wires 2 for inter club Team racing.

Important Notice Re: Summer Sailing Course

Due to the lack of interest in the Adventure Course, we are now planning to run just one course during the summer.
The course dates are Monday 15/7 to Friday 20/8. (3 weeks)
This year our instructor Michelle will be taking the group on an overnight stay to a nearby beach, where the sailors will camp for the night. If you are interested in taking this course the numbers are now limited. Please put your application in as ASAP.

Coaching Clinics
Hi Julie here, this year I have volunteered to be the Junior Organiser for W.H.S.C..
In addition to running the summer sailing courses, which have been a huge success over the past years, I would also like to provide more sailing opportunities for our young sailors throughout the year. As such I am planning to start by offering a three day Clinic over the Easter break which is available to all levels.
The clinic will take place on Mon 25th/Tue 26th & Wed 27th March.
Optimists – Sailing in the morning from 10am to 12noon, followed by lunch (provided by club), finishing with practicial, boat rigging and fine tuning from 1pm to 2pm.
Cost will be €50 for the three days including lunch.
Laser/Topper – Same as Optimist with additional sailing in the afternoon finishing at 4pm.
Cost will be €75 for the three days including lunch.

We are aimimg to put together an optimist sailing team to compete in the Crosbie Cup (July 13th/14th) in Sutton DC.
We would also hope to sent a group of Laser sailors to the Munsters in Baltimore (30th/31st March) or The Youth Nationals in Lough Derg (4th – 7th March).

This is the EU exchange aboard the Astrid, which will sail via Kinsale to Cherbourg.

Topper Training This Weekend

Hi To All Junior Topper Sailors,
We have our first open Topper coaching for 2013 set up for Friday the 15th to Sunday 17th of February in the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire.
This coaching weekend again is open to all Topper sailors and is a great chance for club sailors to get a full weekend of coaching with top coaches.
Sailors attending need to have their boats rigged for 10.00 a.m. They don’t have to be changed into their sailing gear but they do need to be ready for briefing at 10 a.m. sharp
Please bring your own lunch. Can you also bring running gear as you might be brought for a run on the pier.
The intended finish time will be around 4.45 pm on the 3 days. The cost for the weekend is €60. Any sailor who can only do 1 day the cost is €25 or 2 days €50. Any Sailors interested can they please contact me by email in case we need to call off the coaching due to the weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
Welcome New Harbourmaster

WHSC is delighted to welcome new harbourmaster Harry McLoughlin to Dunmore East. We look forward to working with Harry and wish him good luck in his new role.
Originally from Howth, Harry pursued a career in the fishing industry, spending 17 years on board the 24 meter M.F.V Shelmalier, 10 of which were as skipper.
He married Edwina in 2004 and made a career change to the marine leisure industry. He was appointed the position of supervisor at Dunlaoghaire marina, and later took the role of senior supervisor.
