Reminder that the 89th WHSC AGM and the 54th Waterford Harbour Sailing Club Limited AGM will be held on Thursday 12th March 2020 at 7.30pm in the clubhouse.
In relation to any motions that members may wish to bring forward at the AGM Section 6 (7) of the rules applies as follows:
“All notices of motion and special resolutions for submission to a general meeting of the club must be transmitted to the Honorary Secretary in writing together with the names of the proposer and seconder at least 7 clear days before the date of the meeting. To be passed such motions shall require a majority of two thirds of members present and entitled to vote”

ABOUT VHF COURSE
A course for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment.
The aim of the course, is to provide trainees understanding (practical and theoretical) of VHF communication at sea. The course includes training, preparation and examination for VHF radio license, required by the Irish Government.
All skippers and power-boat/rescue-boat skippers must be licensed radio-operators. Crews on yachts and rescue craft are encouraged to learn and become licensed operators also. A VHF license is highly recommended pre-requisite for ISA ‘Safety Boat’ candidates.
Successful attainment of a licence and associated personal identity radio codes from the Department will allow the holder to fully benefit from DSC emergency functions of his / her modern VHF radio or EPIRB in sending pre-defined digital distress messages.
Venue: WHSC Club house.
Equipment: VHF handsets are provided but if you have your own set please bring it along.
Cost: 220 EUR/per person (incl. tuition, oral and written examination, Irish Government VHF License and DSC codes)
Dunmore Harbour Festival 2019 Will take place on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th of May
Following the Festival launch at 11am on Saturday 18th WHSC are delighted to welcome the Norwegian Ambassador & friends.
Members and the public are invited to join us for some fun at Waterford Harbour Sailing Club (WHSC) with Power Boat trips around the bay for only €5 per person from 11am to 3pm every half hour each day. WHSC function rooms will also be open to host a series of talks based around health, wellness, history & more!
Important members notice: Access to boat sheds must be kept clear Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th of May.

Some members have been busy this spring gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, and effectively, skipper an open powerboat. They have been awarded with the very useful ISA ‘ National Powerboat Certificate’ Due to ongoing demand course offerings have been extended into (warmer!) May and June.
Note the club have purchased 3 new RIBs and are actively facilitating subsequent driving experience for recent course graduates during ongoing dinghy coaching and RIB programs.. Don’t miss out !
A two-day course will be delivered at WHSC, Dunmore East in partnership with the Irish National Sailing School, Dun Laoghaire.
The course is designed for those seeking to improve their competency in the sport and focuses upon areas such as escorting racing fleets of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes; providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets and assisting in race management duties.
