HI Cruiser Sailors ….

If you have not entered the Cork to Dunmore East race yet there is still some time to do so !

We hope to represent WHSC well in this event both on and off the water.

A buss will travel on Friday afternoon from the WHSC clubhouse to Crosshaven; this will enable sailor to not have to worry about return of cars.

Boat stickers behind the bar this weekend

WHSC boat stickers

A special message from our membership secretary Andrea Kennedy

This weekend the boat stickers will be behind the bar ; you are kindly requested

To collect your named and numbered sticker and apply it to your boat as soon as possible

There have been payments received for boat parking however some people did not return the

parking application paperwork. If you remember that you did not send any to Andrea then do so

as soon as possible. You will find no sticker was issued if you did not complete the paperwork

An important reminder that with the original debentures from 10 years ago there is NO free boat parking any longer.

Unfortunately a number of forms went out erroneously stating there was free parking; Apologies for this.

Dunmore Harbour Festival 2019 – Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th of May


Dunmore Harbour Festival 2019 Will take place on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th of May

Following the Festival launch at 11am on Saturday 18th WHSC are delighted to welcome the Norwegian Ambassador & friends.

Members and the public are invited to join us for some fun at Waterford Harbour Sailing Club (WHSC) with Power Boat trips around the bay for only €5 per person from 11am to 3pm every half hour each day. WHSC function rooms will also be open to host a series of talks based around health, wellness, history & more!

Important members notice: Access to boat sheds must be kept clear Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th of May.

Hello all.
2018 was a fantastic year for Adult sailing with many getting their first taste of dinghy sailing and others improving and gaining accreditation. If you’ve enviously watched your kids, partner or other members enjoying sailing from the club house, but you never knew where to start:- then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

A WhatsApp group will be set up so all adults wishing to take lessons must register to get communication. To join text Adult Training and your name to Kim Byrne on 087 9969521 or Roy Power on 086 2566960, and you will be joined to the group. Availability for the week ahead will be sent out on WhatsApp regularly. Bookings can only be made through WhatsApp to Kim Byrne who will coordinate. Bookings can be cancelled without charge up to two days before the booking however a full charge will be made for cancellations within two days. Sailors can be substituted at their own discretion. Where lessons have been abandoned due to weather the lesson will be rescheduled as soon as practical.

Cork to Dunmore East Race

Hi cruiser sailors !

Many of you are already aware of the first ever Cork to Dunmore East race….. Yes, we are on the South Coast Offshore Racing Association (Scora) agenda.

It is anticipated there will be 20+ Cork boats racing and we hope that as many as possible from WHSC will join the race.

Clubhouse Open Easter Weekend

Additional Powerboat Courses

Some members have been busy this spring gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, and effectively, skipper an open powerboat. They have been awarded with the very useful ISA ‘ National Powerboat Certificate’ Due to ongoing demand course offerings have been extended into (warmer!) May and June.

ISA ‘Safety Boat’ Course – May 25th,26th.

A two-day course will be delivered at WHSC, Dunmore East in partnership with the Irish National Sailing School, Dun Laoghaire.

The course is designed for those seeking to improve their competency in the sport and focuses upon areas such as escorting racing fleets of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes; providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets and assisting in race management duties.


  • Preparation of boat for use
  • Basic boat handling
  • Race management (sailing boats)
  • Approaching and assisting sailing dinghies and other watercraft
  • Towing
  • Incident management and medical emergencies


  • 9:30am – 5pm, May 25th and 26th
  • WHSC Dunmore East
  • Pre-requisite: National Power Cert (often referred as Level 2 Powerboat) or equivalent and 20 hours driving experience
