Commodores Welcome

Dear member and also visitor to our website, richards imports 699

We hope your visit to our website is enticing you to come sailing in Dunmore East. Waterford Harbour Sailing Club started as a community sailing club in 1934. From then onwards it has grown to it’s current size with ample of facilities for all members to enjoy.

The Committee has been working all winter to get prepared for the summer season;the new dressing rooms are taking shape, the boats are worked on and also the boat house is getting some attention.. The entrance to the clubhouse has become brighter and more spacious, all to give you a welcoming feel to our sailing club. Over the last 2 years we have branched out into the community with School sailing for primary schools, Women on the Water, and a cooperation with the RNLI in fundraising etc. We are in reality finding our roots back from where we started over 80 years ago

This year the new committee looks larger than before; all to make the jobs more manageable but also to give the section of sailing that you are interested in the best possible attention.

This year we will offer

  • Family sailing
  • Adult Sailing lessons
  • Boat rentals sailing
  • Cruiser sailing and racing (Crew wanted)
  • Laser and dinghy racing
  • Junior sailing courses (Lots and all levels)
  • Social activities
  • Rib Trips
  • Development squad

The Laser & dinghy group was extremely popular last year and if you have a Laser in the shed; take it out and try WHSC; They are a friendly bunch on the water.  Our foundations for the future are being built by the family sailing on Saturdays, the little children from the age of 5 years are having great fun on the water and learning to sail whilst playing.  All and all there is a lot on offer this year and after the sailing you can enjoy our clubhouse and terrace with spectacular views. This year again we will be hosting some social events.

Our biggest event this year will be the Optimist Connaught Championships which is expected to have over 100 boats participating. It will be the flagship event for this year and hope many young WHSC sailors will compete.

The PR engine has started this year and the various sailing and non sailing activities sections will be supported to promote upcoming events and to report with pictures etc afterwards. A revamped website, Facebook and Twitter will be tools used to that effect. Follow us !!

There is much sailing for everybody available at WHSC this ensures that your membership is worth every cent. We are a welcoming sailing club in Dunmore and we hope you will come and check us out in 2017, just walk into the door.

Our membership fees for 2017 have been reduced with special membership rates for new members.

We are looking forward to seeing many new and old friends in Dunmore East both on and off the water

We love to sea you at WHSC
