Dunmore East RNLI Annual Open Water Swim 2017
This year’s Dunmore East RNLI Open Water Swim will take place on Saturday 20 May. The swim will be located at the slip behind the Waterford Harbour Sailing Club in Dunmore East, with the first swim starting at 12.30 noon. The three swims will be over distances of 1600m, 800m and a junior swim of 500m. As the demand for and interest in different sporting events increases, the fundraising branch of Dunmore East RNLI is keen once again to host a major event that would see people take part in a rewarding and challenging open water swim.
Speaking at the launch, Dunmore East RNLI crewmember Neville Murphy said, ‘We had such a successful event last we are really looking forward to this year’s event. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country with a stunning coastline, and it is the perfect location for this type of event. Let’s hope the weather is as good as last year and we have as many participants, which in turn will help us raise funds for the RNLI and their life-saving work.’
We are delighted to have Activate and Lidl as our main co-sponsors and this year’s event will have a real family atmosphere with balloon making, face painting with much more children’s entertainment and a BBQ for everyone. All prize giving will take place in newly refurbished Waterford Harbour Sailing Club after the completion of all three swims where music entertainment will be provided by DJ Frankie McAvoy.
